MY CHARITY
GIVING BACKStella Maris
The Stella Maris is a new 25-room lodge conveniently located on the main road from Kilimanjaro International Airport just before reaching the climbing and safari capital of Moshi.
The Lodge and the adjacent Stella Maris English-Medium Primary School were built by the people of Mailisita in partnership with the Mailisita Foundation – a US-based orphan and vulnerable child relief organization. The income from the Lodge goes exclusively to paying the teachers and buying food for the children. So not only is the Stella Maris a beautiful place to relax, but your stay directly helps the underpriviliged children of the local village.
Each of the children is orphaned and unable to pay for education. They are taught in English to equip them with the advantages modern society demands. It is the basic tools of education we take for granted that they desperately lack. The list below is what the teachers need to provide quality education and help send these children to High School or to earn an adequate living.
I hope you will be generous enough to provide many if not all of the items they require. I would love to return to the school and deliver them in person. Please contact me with your support.
You can hear their happy morning songs and drum beating before classes begin.
Below is a list of items that the school principal and teachers gave me when I visited the school.
If you have or would like to donate any of these, please contact me to make arrangements.
Thank you.
Mailisita is a village in Tanzania six miles outside of the town of Moshi. “Mailisita” is Swahili for “mile six”. Mailisita is along the main road connecting Arusha, Moshi, and the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Fr. Kawishe (right) was the Mailisita parish priest within the Catholic Diocese of Moshi, Tanzania. In addition to his many other responsibilities, Fr. Kawishe had been running a pre-school at the parish center serving about 100 children — many of whom were orphaned or from families otherwise unable to pay for their children’s education.
